I've been meaning to post this easy fix for what I consider to be an annoyance.
On my 2008 2544 the Operator Presence Switch in the seat will shut off the PTO and kill the engine if the operator leaves the seat. The operator can leave the seat without killing the engine by simply setting the parking brake. However, the PTO is still automatically turned off. This was a major annoyance to me because I constantly have to get on and off the tractor to move sticks and other debris. So I would have to reengage the PTO many times during mowing.
I fixed this "problem" in the following manner. There are three wires coming out of the switch under the seat. I cut the outside yellow wire. That's it. Disconnecting one wire did the trick.
I don't really think this makes any difference safety wise. If the tractor would roll or something happen to the operator, the engine will still shut down.
