I got one with my YM2200, now my questions are these.

how difficult is it to cut the shredder shaft?

anything I should especially watch our for while doing this?

any suggestions?

Are you saying the dealer sold you a tractor with an OR coupler and a shredder and DIDN'T make sure it would all hook up and work? We always cut and size any shafts that need to be shortened to work with the OR coupler on the tractor before sending out any such package.

They are not hard to cut but you need to make sure of the needed length.

You might add a Harbor Freight Quick Hitch to move the implement back a distance equal to the thickness of the OR (or slip) clutch.

I haven't tried this, I'm just waiting for someone else to try it and tell us how it works. :D

It's not difficult at all. Look here (page 10) for a step-by-step process (it's a PDF file so you'll need the reader if you don't already have it).

Nothing to it. Cutting is cutting; however, let common sense be your guide as far as proper length.

the over run clutch was a last minute addition. It's a shame you aren't in Tx, I could have purchased from you. ;)

the dealer did inform me, that I would have to cut the shaft, and I didn't have a problem with doing that, I only asked the question here to try and get some more useful info. or maybe a few things to watch out for.

just make sure it doesn't but up against the other end when you lower the unit & you should be ok. you can cut it with a chop saw, saw all, etc,

per some of the instructions I've seen.......they suggest using the 3 pt to raise the shredder until the shaft would be level, then mark and cut both shafts 1" short from the ends......sound about right?

Maybe. The idea is to never have the shafts run into the opposing yoke (thus binding the shafts) ... 1" clearance is good and should be checked thru the full vertical movement of the cutter (using 3PH control). On mine, lifting to full height creates the shortest situation ... so level doesn't work for mine. Also, you're supposed to have 6" or more of overlap of the shafts when it's at it's longest situation.

Sounds about right. I ment to say up instead of lowered. Sorry .Like homebrew says. You don't want the 2 to touch or bind against each other. But, don't cut so much off you don't have enough overlap.
