Shopping for a PHD for my Kubota 7510 (21 hp) would appreciate your feedback on what to buy or not buy. Naturally I have rock to content with. Ebay has a Leinbach #73000. Any users ? thanks

Thanks Ron, Did you purchase locally or Ebay?

I bought mine with my tractor from my dealer.

Have you looked at light duty bucket mounted hydraulic PHDs? Your 7510 hydraulics should be around 7 GPM, which falls within the 5 to 12 GPM range of a light duty HPHD. I'm sure they are a little more money but you will benefit from the down pressure of the loader and they are reversible, both important items if you are dealing with rock. After the initial installation, they also seem easier to install and remove.

I have a PTO driven Leinbach unit that was purchased back in 1994. I have used it very little but it seems to work fine. I prefer the hydraulic units because you have forward/reverse and down pressure.

Has anyone ever priced out a light duty HPHD?

If you are planning on a lot of use, go with a hydraulic unit, it will handle rocks better. If you go with a pto driven, make sure it is rated for more than your tractor HP otherwise the rocks could convert it to scrap metal.

I've got a Rotomec PHD-300 and it's great for the odd post hole now and then. If I'm putting in a fenceline though, I go rent a Bobcat with a hydraulic unit. It's a whole lot faster. Also invest in a smaller auger. In my neck of the woods the 9" is fine for corner posts, but the 6" is better for the line posts and it goes down faster.

I have a Leinbach L7300 with 9" auger on my Kubota L2800. Got it from the dealer $375. Works well, solid unit. Takes a bit of practice to get straight holes. I found that the 3 pt needs to be squared up.

I have the Danuser on my Kubota 3830 and it works very well...
Not sure how they compare price wise to some of the others but seems to be very well built unit and have not had any issues with it.

I bought one of the King Kutter with a 12 inch auger. I dug many holes in clay and rocks right to the gear box for rr ties. I had rpm at just above idle and the clutch slipped one time on a good size rock. I actually broke one of the replaceable blades but kept on digging 4 more holes to finish. I would definately buy another KK if needed. I use it on a 2015 Mahindra with no problems. John
