Plan on backhoe purchase in spring, undecided as to power from pto/or internal hydraulics. Will be used on Kubota L3010HST. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I went with the tractor hydraulics for a few reasons.

I didn't want to hook up/line up anything more down there than I had to even if its not that hard, easy etc.. just didn't want to do it. I felt it was better to just use the existing system for cooling etc. even though there is nothing wrong with a seperate PTO driven system. The biggest reason is that I could use the remote for other things besides the BH. If I had gone the PTO route I would have had to spend extra dollars to install a remote to run the HTL, dump trailer, etc..

I would recommend the seperate PTO driven pump for the following reasons.
I am not familiar with the hydraulice on the Kubota you mentioned. However if you get a backhoe with it's own pump you will not have any hydraulic pressure/flow problems that could occur if the tractor pump is not big enough for the hoe.
Also if the hoe is used on another tractor it will mix the hydraulic fluids if the 2 tractors use different hydraulic fluid. . There will be no bungee cording of a remote valve to get the backhoe to work.
Of course for the right price your Kubota dealer can plumb up the hoe to the tractor hydraulics in a way that does not require a bungee cord on a remote valve.

Just my opinion though.

Botaman2 I have a 757C backhoe on my TC-40D that uses my tractors hydraulics and it is a hard worker. I have also used a neighbor’s tractor in the past that used his PTO to drive an independent hydraulic pump. I saw no differences between the two tractors as both backhoes worked equally well.

The only factor that I can see is the extra hydraulic pump to deal with. If that were not an issue with you then it would be a toss up between the two in my opinion.

Thank's guy's for your first hand experiences with both styles of hyd-power. Fortunately I have until spring to make up my mind. I will update you all, when my decision is made.
