Good for you 0LDPIL0T. I turned 80 last month. I'm slower but more determined. The major changes I've noticed - I'm not as limber as I use to be. But that's OK. Retirement allows me to go any darn speed that works.

txndncowboy - checking around and I see where one of the major players in the bush hog business now has a "drive shaft sling". Holds the shaft up at the correct height for easier hook up.
Doesn't make much difference - the shaft is HEAVY if you are fortunate enough to get a quick hook up OR becomes VERY HEAVY if you have to fiddle around making connection.
TWO things you could make a fortune on now. Quick, easy, simple PTO hook up AND mouse repellent that works 100% of the time and lasts forever.

For me to hook up my brush hog the drive
shaft is approx 5 ft long and I don't have any
problems so far and I'm past 82 going on 83
Granted I can't life 400 lbs any more like I
could in my younger days but can still handle
50 pounders. I slowed down when I had
shingles for 6 months leg and back hurt so
bad didn't do anything but not back at it.
Anyone suffering from arthuritis 1000 mg
of VIT "C" every day helps my wife to keep the inflamation down and she don't have the pain.
