Stupid question, but I'm borrowing a 5ft rotary cutter from my father and the PTO shaft will connect with the tractor, but the locking pin is missing. I tried shoving a bolt in to replace the pin, but I can feel the spring is still there at the bottom of the bore. So is there a way to replace that pin?

If not, is there another way to keep it from popping off?

Haven't had the experience yet, but I do see several sources for lock pin assemblies to repair or replace existing lock pins. Try Tractor Supply or your closest ag equipment dealer.

Funny that you mentioned it. I had to take apart my sticking pin to clean & lubricate. If others are like mine, the holes are different diameters and you’d need the proper replacement.

Yeah - this one has different size holes too. i'll cruise by TS tonight on my way home and see what they have. the two different sizes must be to support the spring.
