I recently picked up a previously owned Danuser F8 (12” & 4” augers...$700)...

Going through it and replacing the “redneck bodges” ...which were probably performed in the field (bent spike holding one of the draw pins, bolts instead of linch pins, etc).

One thing I came across which seemed “backwards” to me was the cover sleeve on the pto shaft... the inner sleeve is towards the gearbox on the phd, with the outer sleeve down at the tractor end...

If nothing else, the inner sleeve is somewhat greasy and trying to swap augers gets me in contact with that grease...

I’m new at this pto thing... maybe I’ll learn to avoid the shaft as I’m putzing with the augers...

Another issue I can foresee is any rain falling on the inner cover will run down inside the outer cover when I park the thing... does that just drain out?

Do I need to swap ends on the shaft cover? ...and how do I go about it?

I don't think it matters which sleeve is where, but what DOES matter is when you park the PHD, remove the "tractor" half of the driveline and store it indoors until the next use. This goes true for any PTO driven implement that gets parked outdoors. If you don't remove the tractor half, you will soon learn why. Do a search for "Stuck PTO shaft". This forum is full of them.
