First time poster, but long time lurker and info searcher.
I have a quick question for model 4100 owners.
I am interested in a used 2000 4100HST with 410 loader. I have a KK 60" tiller that I now use on my neighbors 790 as I do not currently have a tractor. I have searched for and read all I can find here on using this tiller on the 4100HST and other smaller CUTs. It seems some people do/would and some people don't/wouldn't.
The tiller weights 690 lbs and the 3pt lift capacity is 930 lbs so I think I am ok there.
The real issue is performance with only 17hp at the PTO. I will be using it in an already broken up garden, not busting new ground. Soil is mild clay loam with some limestone, but I have removed all rocks bigger than a softball. Any new advise/experience here is welcome, but the real question concerns the PTO shaft.
I am trying to convince the individual selling the unit to allow me to "rent" it to see for myself the performance with the tiller attached.
My only concern is will I need to cut the PTO shaft in order to operate the tiller on the 4100?? I can't find any posts on a 4100 having to cut the shaft to fit, but want to make sure before I go to the trouble of getting the machine home to try it out.
