Sprayer PTO Shaft For Sprayer

I need to get a longer PTO shaft for my 3-point sprayer. The current shaft is regular 540 rpm 6-spline quick coupler on the tractor end and round 3/4 inch female with woodruff key on the implement end. The key itself is 3/16 x 7/8" long. The current PTO drive shaft is 20" long. I measured the 20" from the ball on the quick coupler to the end of the round yoke at the other end, with the shaft fully collapsed.

Can I buy something longer online with the proper yoke at each end and shorten down if necessary? Or is this something custom that has to be made up? I will measure more precisely, but I need something at least 6" longer.

Tractor supply or the ag store should have a pto shaft on hand, there is a guide on here about cutting shafts to length as well.

Maybe you can get an extendable shaft like some mowers have.

I don't mind cutting the replacement shaft, and as you say the ag stores like TSC and AgriSupply have plenty on hand. My problem is I need to find one that has a 3/4" round yoke on the implement end that will mate to the 3/4" round shaft with keyway on the sprayer.

That's exactly the kind of shaft that's on it now, just like a mower driveshaft that slides in and out, only it's too short to use with my newer tractors.

Why don't you find one with the same u joint size and swap ends then?

Why not get a PTO extender? Both TSC & Agri Supply carry them. That is what I did to use my Bush hog with my Pat's.

Yeah, I thought about that but I'd have to be careful as there's both metric and fractional sizes around from different manufacturers. Also I'd prefer to keep the old shaft intact in case I want to put the sprayer back on the smaller tractor one day.

I guess that might work as long as everything is a snug fit. I'll have to check it out. How many inches length did your extension add? Was the extension made of steel or aluminum and was it a nice tight fit with no wobble? It's held onto the tractor by a shear bolt or roll pin, right? Does it have the groove in it for the coupler to lock on? Thanks, I'll look at TSC and ASC.

ADDED EDIT:OK, I see the ones on the websites, ASC seems to have one with a quick coupler for the tractor end.
They all seem to add about 3.25". Is that what you found? I'll have to see if that's enough length for my application. Is that what the Pat's adds, about 3 inches, or is it more than that?

I used an overriding clutch,just put it on PTO shaft of tractor this gave me the length I needed and
cheaper than an extension. Should give you about the 6" you need.
