The PTO shaft is turning even when it is disengaged. I can grab the shaft and stop it from turning and there is no force required to stop it from rotating. It just started doing this within the last week or so. What might be causing this behavior? PTO Clutch needs an adjustment? Some other adjustment? This is on a 3035.

My C47L does it to... I've seen many/most tractors do this. Dad's MF 1135 does it.

OK, just wanted to make sure something wasn't getting ready to fail. Actually noticed this since last weekend when I did my 50 hour service.

My 3820 does it also, I see no reason for concern.

My 3045 has done this from day one.
There is a PTO shaft cover that came with my tractor, but I haven't ever used it. I'd probably just lose it if I put it on the tractor, so I just keep it in my toolbox where it won't get lost - even though I don't use it /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
This has to make sense to somebody else out there - might be a good henro thread?

Yea, the manual says to keep it over the shaft when there isn't anything hooked up. The problem is it requires you to remove two bolts on the PTO shaft housing to keep it in place. I think I threw mine away as I needed the room in the tool box for actual useful stuff!!!

PTO shaft is turning ususally because oil dragging it. So, for sure, you know that you have some oil in tranny, and lubricating is o.k. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
