PTO shaft loose and leaking fluid on TS1910

I have a TS1910 and recently while using my brush cutter the PTO shaft came loose and slipped about 1-1/2 inches out and caused the gear oil to leak out around the seal, not to mention moving the shaft far enough out to disengage the PTO from the gear.

I do not have a manual for this tractor and being currently unemployed, cannot afford to buy one at this time. Has anyone had this happen before? And how do you go about retightening the PTO shaft?

I can move the shaft in and out, and it doesn't come completely out. Does anyone have diagram they can share?

A neighbor has had this happen before after running his rototiller, but it is on a different grey market tractor. I had used my tiller before this happend too. I plan to get him to look at it soon but that may be another month away and I need to start reclaiming some of my property soon. The brush is going nuts now that summer is getting here.

A snap ring probably came out of its groove. You'll have to take the lift housing off to get at it.

Thanks for the info. I figured it was something fairly simple. I should be able to get back to cutting by this weekend.

Thanks Leonard. It was the snap ring that had slipped off near the rear bearing. It had been stretched out and did not fit back into the groove fully. I did not know how to remove the inner bearing to get the entire shaft out to replace the snap ring, so I ended up putting a small piece of wire through the two holes on the snap ring and twisting them tightly to snug up the ring. I checked for any interference and there wasn't any. Put everything back together with new fluid and I was back to cutting on Sunday.
