Snowblower PTO Shaft on Snowblower

/ PTO Shaft on Snowblower #11
Did this blower come with a PTO shaft? It looks to me like it is a smooth end with a shear bolt. These are designed so that if your blower eats a rock or a large chunk of ice the bolt snaps and then you replace the bolt clear the obstruction and keep going. Yes this is a bit of a pain. I snap 2-3 bolts a year on my 400m driveway. The bonus is that the bolt snaps before anything else such as impeller or tractor get broken. If you had a splined PTO then should the impeller eat a rock it stops spinning, then the PTO shaft stops spinning and that transmits back stopping the tractor. This risks damage to any of those parts. I would much rather spend $3-4 a year on replacement bolt than having to repair more severe damage.

Richer is not that far out of Winnipeg, there are several tractor dealerships that would all be able to order a replacement PTO for you. Do some shopping around as many need to call a couple places to find a decent price.
