PTO shaft removal on 1500D

Does anyone know how to remove the short PTO shaft that runs through the rear axle case? It is number 45 in the picture. I'm trying to separate it at the collar (number 43). There are no visible lock rings outside of the collar. It looks as though there may be a snap ring inside the collar. I'm thinking this may be designed like an inner CV axle shaft into the transmission. Any info would be great. Thanks.

I haven't been there, done that, but looking at the drawing I think you are going to have to remove the pto housing. Maybe you have tried? Looking at the drawing it would appear the shaft should slide out of the collar. What about removing the snap ring on bearing #46 where the shaft could slide through it?

Sorry Winston1 I should have mentioned that the PTO cover was already off. It's the reason that I wanted to change a damaged washer on the shaft. So tonight around midnight I got in there with a pry bar. I know this might sound like a bad idea. Hitting the end of the bar with my hand I was able to get the collar to come apart. This allowed the shaft with bearing to slide out the back of the axle housing. The snap ring actually sits inside the collar a is a stop for how far the two shafts slide in. Once I pressed the bearing off the short shaft I was able to removed the damaged washer. I have to say I love working on my Yanmar like this. They designed this tractor to be repaired easily for the most part. Although I should have bought my own press for the amount of bearings I have replaced. :laughing: See the pictures below. It's tough to see but the washer is worn into two pieces almost.
