I feel pretty stupid here and was hoping I can get lucky and have one of the brain trust here point me to the correct product.
Here is my situation - I have a Valby chipper and I realized the pto shield is not working properly and I need to replace it. A new replacement shield for a La Magdelenia PTO shaft costs $80 plus shipping. While I was on the phone with the place that quoted me the $80 for the replacement shield said for $130 they can get me a whole new PTO shaft which includes the shield.
In my mind, I was thinking the shield would be about $30 bucks or so but I cannot find another source besides Northeast Implements for the La Magdelenia parts in the US. So I am resigned to buy a new shaft and be done with it. I want the correct shaft but I also don't want to get the shaft - sorry trying to be funny.
So - this is where I need help as I am getting confused - I looked at TSC, Agri Supply, GA tractor and a few others and see prices from $70 to $300 for a new shaft with different lengths, splines, shear bolt option and designations such as GR1, GR4, TX. I currently have an M4 shaft which I had to cut originally because it needs to be about 25 inches long installed. Both Ends (Valby Chipper and Yanmar 2020D) are 1 3/8" 6 spline.
Any chance someone can point me to a link or source where I can buy the right shaft for a fair price?
