The PTO shaft on my MF35 has a groove in it and light scoring where the seal rides. I'm in the market for a new shaft because I'm doubtful that a new oil seal will stop the steady drip of fluid. I've found that there are two PTO shafts available. One tends to be priced around $60 while the other tends to be priced around $90. I'm told the price difference is because of different suppliers. Does anyone have any idea who the suppliers might be and why one shaft is priced 50% higher than the other? I found both shafts at one aftermarket parts company - SSB Tractor. Most other parts companies have only one shaft available - Yesterday's Tractors and a few other others have the $60 shaft, Valu-Bilt has the $90 shaft.

I'd email the vendor that carries BOTH and ask why you should buy the more expensive one. If they can't offer a good reason why, buy cheaper one.....

Good idea. I called them before posting here. The young lady I spoke with knew what she could read off her company's computer screen which unfortunately was not quite what I needed.

Are both shafts the same diameter? Seems like some had a little weeny pto shaft that you would have to buy an adaptor for regular sized pto driven equipment, and the others were standard pto size. I think the smaller ones were pre-live pto days.
