I thought I replied yesterday. I will try again. Thank you for all of your kind advice. Last night I inspected the pto and the attachment for burrs and did not find any. I did notice that both of them were a little rough, so I sanded them with 4oo grit sandpaper and rinsed it off with wd-40 and presto! the attachment slid on to the pto! Now I need to do some mowing.

Good deal. You must of cleaned off something hanging it up.
 
i've seen dried grease even stick them.
