I am interested in seeding about 3 acres and later seeding for cover crop about 1 acre. I have looked at Wingfield's Flexible Chain Harrow and wonder if anyone have has used PT's rake and how it compares.
i have the basic rake and not the power rake. for me, It doesn't do a good job of raking thing up. the springs are more pliable than other type of rakes use. I seem to have to go over the same piece of land a couple of times to get the weeds, twigs, branches moved etc. i would suggest getting another manufacturers rake or chain harrow and putting on an adapter plate.
Thanks kim. I was thinking of the basic rake as the power rake is too expensive. I hoped the basic would do the job as it would be more maneuverable. I guess I will go with something like the Wingfield chain as it can be pulled behind the PT and if needed weight can be added to get a more aggressive bite. The cost of the Wingfield is a little less than PT's basic rake.
I have both the PT front rake and an 8' wide harrow. The PT rake is not practical in my opinion because you have to drive backwards and it always seems like in order to get a good bite you are on the verge of breaking the implement. I have a small 1 acre food plot and put my friend used my polaris 400 sportsman 4wd to pull the harrow and i used the PT with the rake. He got alot more done than i did. The only advantage with the PT rake would be if for example you want to pull horse manure back from a fence or any like that. However the 4in1 bucket works better than the rake for that also. So i guess i would say if i had to make the choice again i would pass on the PT rake.
