I have a Kubota B7610. It has 24 Gross horsepower. I cut about 8 acres of open field with a 60" MMM. I should have gotten a bigger tractor, but didn't, can't afford the upgrade.

I was wondering if anyone had used a pull type rotary cutter with a tractor this size. King Kutter makes a 5' and 6' pull type and I thought I could increase my production this way.

I'd suggest looking into one of the pull type offset mowers (with its own motor). That way you could use your 60" MMM and maybe a 60" pull behind. You'd be able to cut more that way than pulling only one.

Places like Tractor Supply and Atwoods or other farm supply places should carry them.

It's one more motor to maintain, but would give you some flexibility and reduce the time by half.

Here's what I can tell you...
When I bought my 5' Land Pride, I had a Deere 670 when power equivalent to the B7510/B7610.
Per the Land Pride website, my tractor didn't have the PTO HP required. However, the dealer (a Kubota dealer in York, PA) said they sold these cutters to B7500 (current machine at that time) owners frequently.
It actually did work quite well, so I think a 5' cutter would work...not a 6' cutter though.

So, if I were you, I'd go for a 5' pull type cutter. If your B7610 bogs down, either slow down or take a partial width pass in heavier growth.

I've never used a pull type cutter so I don't know how sharp you can turn without binding against the tractor tires or damaging the PTO shaft. I would also think backing up could be challenging.

Good luck with your selection!

Do those pull cutters run off your pto or do they have their own engine? If they offset and your tractor powers them, your going to run out of power real quick adding them to the mid-mount.

Yes, they run off of the PTO. The fact that the tractor doesn't have to be able to lift them allows you to use a larger cutter.

Also.. I don't want to run it with the MMM. This is a rotary cutter (bush hog). I want to use it to cut a field that can get to high to cut with the MMM.

Your tractor has 1300lbs of lift 24' behind the pivots. That should be more than enough to lift most any rotary cutture you can power. The 3pt mount 6' KK weighs 700lbs. By the time you max out your lift capacity, you will not have enough hp to run the attachment.

This being siad, the pull type might be easier to hook up.

Thanks for the info. I didn't look at the three point hitch specs. I just saw that Kubota recommends lifting a maximum 400 lbs. and 4' cutter in the manual.

That doesn't mean you want to lift a cutter that weighs close to 50% of the weight of the tractor.
Rather then write an entire discourse on a light tractor and a heavy cutter, read the response I wrote in this thread in one of the Deere forums. The 2320 Deere weights about 400 lbs more then your B7610.

Unless there's a real necessity to go with a lift type cutter, I think the pull type might be more suited to your B7610.

Just my opinion...

Like Roy said, the hitch mount will give you a little more manuverability and will be easier to back up. The 700lb model is for a six ft. If you go with a five ft, it only runs 550lbs. Since the tractor is not that heavy, I would think a couple hundred lbs of wieght on the front would balance out the tractor just fine.
