Well, I have 625 hrs on my X740 with very few issues until the other day. No start, would turn over etc., all the correct indicators etc. Went thru the manual, theory of operation etc., concentrating on fuel system, since that was the direction I was leaning. I replaced fuel filter as a first step (pretty sure was not the problem) and verified fuel flow on output of filter, which was present, so I knew fuel was getting to injector pump. Next, step was to verify fuel shutoff solenoid. Checked the resistance at the different wires per manual. Kinda got some flakey readings on the 0.4 ohm target on the white wire, coulda been the multi-meter operator tho. Anyway found that with solenoid removed tractor started just fine and ran fine, btw don't do that diesel guys know why! Anyway I replaced the solenoid and everything was working as normal, until today! It finally started after about 4 times of cranking over, so now I'm wandering if it could be the pull-in relay. Since it just seems to be a starting issue and not a running and then die issue, which would point to the solenoid "hold" position. Any input on if I'm on right path would be awesome, and is this relay easy to spot, assuming its under dash somewhere. I'm decent with mechanical but electrical a novice, but hey not to old to learn yet!
