Want to move 20' RV around yard with tractor. Hitch weight is within tractor spec's but max weight is WAY over with RV empty (2,000 vs 4,000 # plus.) Would that max be more for brakes? Only talking about 200 300 foot moves

I move campers & my equipment trailer around all the time with my tractor.....The longest camper that i have moved is 28ft & it weighs 8000lbs.

I put a hitch on top of my bucket.....because i have a backhoe & i didn't want to take off the BH just to move a trailer, and i think it works great on the bucket.

In the picture the receiver is turned around.....I keep it like that if I'm not using it.

I don't see a problem doing it that way. The dealer where we bought ours uses a small kubota to move trailers around the lot. In fact i think that is the way most dealers do it.

No problem moving that amount of weight as long as you don't have any significant hills. Otherwise it will be trailer moving the tractor!

I worked one summer at an RV resort with a thousand campsites, and we had a storage lot with a lot of travel trailers of all sizes. When an owner of one of those trailers called to say he/she was coming for the weekend, we'd move that customer's trailer from the storage lot to an RV campsite with an old Ford farm tractor. Then when the customer left, we'd move the trailer back to the storage lot.

I think the big thing is RV tongue weight on the tractor, too small of a tractor will not handle too much weight on it's hitch or the front end will come off the ground. Otherwise any tractor can move a large object small distances.
My Kubota can lift 600lb or more on the 3pt arms so theoretically it could handle that much or more on the hitch, but level ground only.

as long as you are not overloading your 3pt hitch weight, or your fixed drawbar eight.. you should be good for yard tendering if you can get it moving.

I move my horse trailers and flatbeds with my tractors ALL the time.

I unloladed my batwing mower off my flatbed trailer using the fel on one of my old fords.... and that 15' batwing weighs a good bit!

I move a 22ft boat with my tractor and there is no problem. The boat and trailer weigh in at a little over 3000 lbs. My tractor with loaded tires, weight on 3ph and loader weigh around 2300 lbs. I never use the brake pedal but let the engine do the job on a small hill and keep in in 4wd.

You can max-out your power without damage. Your drive train should take any stress your hp can produce unless you are a clutch slipperer. If not, then I would trade tractors. A small tractor will complain in other ways. If you come close to over-stressing your tongue weight, the front end will point to the sky. Just don't jerk or ram around otherways and you should not have top worry. Of course you should always error on the side of caution.
