Brought home my new L5740 9/1/11 I have a FEL on order to be installed.
On the way home I came across a used 6ft Rotary cutter, picked that up too

Spent a little time Fri mowing the tops off the weeds nothing heavy as we are needing rain bad. Also towed a 12x12 3 sided shed I built out the the pasture. With Hst plus we went at .2 mph thats slow crawling.
Put 5 hrs on it over the weekend. No problems to report

Got a good price due to its a older new unit, full warranty, 0%-60month:):):)

anyone know the differences between -1 and -3?

Congratulations on your new tractor, the 5740 is one of my favorite tractors.

I am sure someone will know all of the differences in 1-2-3, but the only one I can remember is that the seat on the -3 rotates a little to make it easier to turn to watch your 3PH equipment. Also I think the -3 uses a push button PTO instead of the lever.

Nice tractor! And I like those brush blocker panels in front of your feet  My dad's Mahindra has those, & I wish mine had them. I never knew any Grand L's had them. I'll have to see if I can get the, for mine. You might not think they make much difference, but fewer thorn bushes got to my legs with the Mahindra compared to my 3940.

Congrats. The -3 model has a swivel seat and the PTO is a knob you turn vs a lever. I think there could be a few other little things but not enough to pass up a good deal on an older but new -1 for.

Nice unit! Is it brand new? If it is why has it had a complete filter change?:)

Oil and oil soaked filters have a finite life. Not everyone agrees on the actual numbers but 12 months or 100-200 hours, whichever occurs first, is common. In the entire history of oil lubricated internal combustion engines there has been an understanding that oil has a finte life, whether the engine is running or not.

Part of the purchase was replacement of all fluid and filters. I requested that to eliminate possible condensation. They changed Engine oil/filter, MFwd axle fluid/ HSt fluid/filter. I also need to touch up the underside with some paint in places where theres a little rusty spots

Engine hours were 1.2 the paint has some fading but i have ordered some Mirror Glaze professional grade cleaner/wax to try to improve and protect.

I wasnt really ready to purchase anything yet and was looking more towards a MX5100 or JD5055 due to cost but I got into this one with FEL for less $$$

The FEL LA854 is on order and will be delivered to my house and I will install it.

Does Kubota actually refer to those as brush guards? Their basically a cheap version of a fender. If you drive your tractor at road speed on a wet road you will understand what those plexiglass shields are really intended for. They stop almost all the water spray coming off the front tires so you don't get showered on while driving.

I was in a L3940 cab today. I was looking for a M8940 narrow cabbed tractor and wanted to see what the cab was like. The dealer had me try out the L3940 as the cab was suppose to be the same as the M8940 narrow. Then I saw the L5740 and started asking questions. The price is $9k less for the 5740 cab but its 30 hp less and about 7" too wide for my use. They were nice looking tractors with a decent control layout and I like orange for visibility since I am on the road so often. So congrats on your new tractor :)
