Since winter seems to be a no-show here in S. Central PA, I figured I would get in gear for spring. Hopefully the purchase of an MX6 will jinx the warm weather and get us some snow and cold temps! I think I got a respectable deal on the mower. Here's what I got: MX6 with slip clutch and front and rear chains, an iMatch unit, and an extra set of iMatch bushings. The price was out the door and delivered for $2450. The dealer said he should have it within a week or so. I was bummed about the weather, but now it could go either way and I'll be happy! (My luck it will stay rainy and 40 deg. No snow and nothing will grow.)

Update. Had a bad dealer experience. The dealer would not allow me to pay for the MX6 with a credit card. He went on to say that since I "Jewed him down" on the price of the mower I had to pay by check. He stated he would lose money if he had to pay the credit card charges. Needless to say I was insulted and asked to speak to the owner of the dealership. The owner took the side of the salesman, and I took my business elsewhere. I got the MX6, imatch, and 2 sets of bushings for $2350---$100 cheaper. Plus they will accept my credit card which gives me about $25.00 in Home Depot gift cards. I just have to drive an hour to pick it up. It was not the money. I would have gladly paid $100 more to stay local. It is the principal of it. I did not "Jew" him down. I price shopped different dealers, got my best price, and went to them and asked if they would match the price. They didn't have to accept it. Still it was an incredibly rude thing to say. I won't be going back there for any more purchases.

good for you!
what a dumb short-sighted move on the owner's part.
he lost a sale.
he lost a customer.
and he has spread ill-will.
there were so many ways he could have made it right with no loss to him.

That's not really that uncommon, especially for smaller companies. CC companies do charge them a percentage.

But hey, it worked out better for you anyway!

You're going to love the mx6. I had a lx5 at first and out found out real quick
that it wouldn't suit my needs. The lx5 is a great mower for cutting pastures
and such but the MX series is a REAL HORSE, I traded in my lx5 for the MX5 and now I'm not afraid to tackle the big stuff.

When I used to sell stuff, folks would commonly say "What's your best cash price?" and I soon learned to answer " Real Cash, or credit card cash?"

The credit card companies charge a merchant 3-4% This is why if you try to get cash from a credit card, they have a different interest rates and 97% return (3$ per 100).

I've seen it kill a deal or 2, but I always held back on any racial epithets.

I use to run a convenience store and we lost money on gasoline purchases with credit cards, but that was part of the business. Never realy made money on gas. Just a draw to get people in. Credit cards soak profit.

You're right Mr. Kyle and good for you. When I go after a "cash deal" I mean cash. . . check if they'll take it.
Bottom line, as soon as any salesperson uses a racist remark in my presence I'm outta there . . . I tell them why and split. . . I don't deal with racists.
