Update!!! I went and picked up my MX6 today!!! I got it from Valley Ag and Turf in Halifax, PA. They are an hours drive for me but it was worth it for the friendly atmosphere and great service. Much better than the dealer I started with. I even got one of theirs hats. $2316.00 out the door for an MX6, iMatch and 1 extra set of bushings.

I have a 6X12 trailer and using their fork lift, they slid it down between the rails with an inch or 2 to spare. On the way home I stopped at Tractor Supply and got two clevis(?) hooks. The MX6 has holes drilled in the frame for them and they are a great spot for tie downs. Once I got home I used chains, straps and my 4320 to lift it out and set it on the ground. The wife was not pleased with her job of trying to keep the cutter from swinging around and smashing my hood but she escaped without losing any fingers or toes!

The iMatch was a cinch to mount and it was a snap to hook up to the cutter. I can see the iMatch will definately be worth the money. I didnt hook up the PTO but I could tell from the short ride I took that the tractor seems to carry the weight well.

All in all it was one of those perfect days where everything went as planned!!! Now I just need some grass to cut!

Congrats, Chris. The MX6 will definately do the job and together with the i-Match, you won't be disappointed. I went through a very similar experience in buying one last year - except for the credit card hassle. My only exception was that I bought the i-Match after I found out how hard it was to wrestle the MX6 without one :)eek: ).

As they say, the ends justify the means. Good job!

Chris,

Just as an aside on the CC thing - it is a violation of the all merchant agreements with all cc issuing banks (and I believe in some cases state laws) to charge more for a credit card purchase in an attempt to recoup that cc percentage they're charged. The cc issuing banks don't treat that lightly. If there are enough complaints - they (and in this case depending on the nature of the Deere dealership legal relationship with corporate 'they' could mean JD themselves) can lose their ability to even accept that card. If the dealer hangs a 'we accept' MC, Visa, whatever sign on the door - and you have a written quote - he's obligated to take that card for that price.

There is a slightly gray area if a merchant turns the tables and offer's a 'cash discount' instead of calling it a cc premium but it's still viewed pretty dimly by the cc issuers. However - the cc issuers don't often test merchant practices - they go nearly exclusively by buyer complaints. It's up to the buyer to decide how much the merchant's behavior rubs them wrong and if they want to raise the red flag with the cc agency.

Myself - I would have done pretty much as you and walked out the door. Congrats on the MX6, I've been very pleased with mine.

Bottom line, as soon as any salesperson uses a racist remark in my presence I'm outta there . . . I tell them why and split. . . I don't deal with racists

Come on guys. We live in a society with political correctness gone haywire. Look at the context of what he said and how he said it. Calling him a racist is a far far stretch.

As for the credit card transaction - Chris if he would have agreed to take your card in exchange for you paying the $75.00 credit card charge he would incure, would you have paid him an extra $75.00? It's money out of his pocket just like its money out of yours. Sad to say, but in todays cut throat business world a small percentage can mean the difference in making money or going under.

JD, we also run a convenience store and you are right. We typically lose money on gas with a credit card. Factor in repairs and maintanance and its a clear loss. Most convenience stores make on average .05 cents per gallon. $2.00 gallon on gas x 3% charge = .06 cent charge for the owner. When gas was at $3.00 gal we were losing about .04 cents for every gallon we sold.

I agree 100%, JK. People take way to much out of context. I say way to much but I'm leaning towards using it as an excuse.
