Good Day all,

Going to do an overhaul on my 64 Super 90 WR as I realized after the fact that the water pump was bad and I may have cracked something because my oil is looking like creamy coffee.:( Anyway it has the Perkins A4-300 Diesel. So I'm looking for a rebuild kit (Gaskets, rings, bearings...) Does anybody have any Ideas. I have looked at most of the parts places (Tisco)and I have even writen to, but no reply from, Perkins. I really don't see any for 4-300 however there are plenty for the 314. If anyone can give me any ideas I would be forever greatful.

Thanks
John

have you tried AGCO. They probably have parts and kits for Perkins engines. Or google "Perkins A4-300 engine parts" and see what comes up.

I have a Super 90 diesel puller with a 5 inch stroke 318 crank in a 410 combine block which is the same as the tractors used. You may just have a head gasket leaking as this is a dry sleeve engine. Original sleeves are long wearing with chrome plating on bore ID and use plain cast iron rings. Have not seen anyone with sleeve assemblys for this engine, Worthington did have a sleeve listed, maybe rings but no pistons. Rod and main bearings for 300 and 318 are the same, as are rods. Pistons have differrent ring width and compression height. If you rebore block and change crank 318 sleeve assemblies are available. If air cleaner has been serviced correctly your sleeves and pistons may be OK with a ring change only. I would pull the head, try to see how much top ring gap you have. If it looks OK and oil pressure has been OK just a head gasket may be all you need. Would also replace all head nuts with taller HI nuts like Lawson has. Put a set on mine to help hold head gasket better with 30+ pounds turbo boost, holding well so far as taller nuts use more stud threads, and make sure it is retorqued when hot.
