When you pull a tree down or whatever using a chain, what part of the tractor do you attach to? I have a backhoe on mine, so there is really nowhere to pull from and I don't want to attach the chain to the backhoe bucket. Same with the front, I have a FEL and don't want to hook there chain there to pull. Any suggestions?

Is there a drawbar maybe under and forward of the backhoe ?

I don't know if I can have the DB on with the BH on or not. If I could, the chain would put pressure on the bottom of the BH when pulling since the other end of the chain will be high up on the tree.

I hook on to the FEL using my welded on chain hooks. The FEL will take all the straight pull force that the tractor is capable of without damage. If you have two hooks like I do, then make a Y so the top of the Y is hooked to both hooks then back to the chain so the top legs of the Y are equal. That way you have equal forces on both sides of the bucket.
If you have tie-down points under the tractor like I do on my B26, you could hook on to them and then swing the backhoe out of the way so the chain doesn't hit the bucket. I don't think it would bother anything under the bottom of the backhoe, but take a look to see that nothing thin or flimsy is in the way when you take the slack out of the chain.

I am not sure what type of situation you might be referring to. A tree that has been hung up after you chainsawed it down? A windblown tree knocked over but still on the stump? A small 4-6" diameter tree that is still in the ground you are trying to knock over? Each of these situations can bring either the same or different technique to get the job done. A backhoe makes the job easier in my opinion and I would not hesitate to use either the fel or backhoe to solve such.

My BH has a grab hook welded on one stabilizer leg near the inner pivot point. Works good for pulling whatever.

I've got two twisted stabilizers from just running into trees at very slow speeds.

Different with a large backhoe.

Here is how I remove trees, well pines mostly, usually 6-8" diameter but occasionally up to 10". First, I only do it when the soil is a bit wet, not when bone dry. Approach tree in first gear, low range and make contact with the bucket about mid height, maybe 6' up the trunk, then give it gas until the tree starts to lean a little. Reverse. Lower bucket and hook bucket edge under root ball that is now sticking up a little. As I give it a little gas, still in first gear I rotate the bucket back. This usually works like a fulcrum and pops the tree out of the ground. Done. No tree. No stump.

I've only got a BX and no backhoe on it. But I can't understand why you wouldn't use the backhoe and just dig it out.
