Kioti CK30HST, Kubota BX-1500,
Of those members who have a CK30HST and a Woods BH-70X or BH-80X backhoe, do you use the tractor's hydraulic system or the Woods PTO Pump, and what are your recommendations?

Thanks

Mike

I don't have a Kioti tractor but I'll offer my opinion.
I have a mahindra 2015 (20HP) with a woods b70x backhoe. I was debating the same question. I ended up going with the PTO pump instead of remotes for 3 reasons.

1. For what I use the tractor for, I had no other use for rear remotes. That may be a consideration for you if you ever want to run something other than the backhoe off the tractor.

2. The price difference isn't all that much after you figure in the remote kit versus the PTO kit.

3. My biggest reason for going with the PTO pump is that you get much more flow at a lower RPM, than you would from the tractor. I can run my Mahindra at just a little over idle, and have all the speed and power from the backhoe that I could ask for, and be running the engine MUCH slower than if I used tractor hydraulics. (less engine wear and fuel consumption)

Hope this helps

Hi Mike,

I have a ck25 with the woods bh-70x and have it running off the tractor remote. It has worked great for me so far and I run my rpm's about 1400. For me, the action is just right for stumps rocks etc. In fact it keeps me from getting that jerking motion...(Green horn) and makes for an enjoyable time. However, when I am just digging a ditch I bump rpm's up to about 1800 and the action is good for the long swing and lift.
I am presently adding a double remote so I can run a Brush Grapple without unplugging the backhoe. (On the backhoe if you can get the Thumb...it's one of the best things for saving the back)
Good luck with your purchase and have fun!

I don't know Woods specs for their hydro pump.
Kioti's pump is a 5 GPM pump (give or take) as most are in this size.
Kioti's tractor hydraulics flow is 12.7 gpm
We run most of ours off of the Remotes.
The hoe is much faster this way, on the CK30.
You can't get as much flow out of the pump kit as you can the Tractor hydraulics.
This all is using KIOTI stuff, pump kit etc. I'm not sure what size pumps the other brands use.
I always give the customer the option of their choice.
But with remotes, you can use them for something else when the hoe isn't in use, like a hydraulic top link.
With a pump kit it's all it's own little sub-system.

Yeah, that's a good point about the GPM rating of the PTO pump.

I guess I forgot to consider that my Mahindra's tractor flow is about 6 GPM i think. A 30 HP Kioti would be considerably more. Something to consider.

I don't know what My PTO pumps output is, but I know Woods uses EATON pumps, in case anybody wants to check

With a remote pump don't you need to have a whole different oil sump? Does it have coolers and filters too like the tractor? I would pay a little extra to have a remote added instead of dinking with a PTO shaft and seperate oil system all the time.

The remote only adds to the value and versatility of your tractor.

Thanks again, I guess I'm leaning toward using the tractor hydraulics...

The pump kit has it's own sump and filter.
It has no real cooling system.

The CK30 has great hyd flow for implements. The spec is 12.7 GPM,
but that is misleading as it includes the power steering pump flow,
which is probably 4GPM or so. The remaining 8+ GPM is more than
needed for a hoe the size of the BH80-X. My hoe has slightly
bigger cyls than the Woods and it runs plenty fast considerably
below the 2600 RPM engine speed. I use the single factory remote
valve setup, which costs slightly less than a PTO pump/res system.
