Those 5 gallon fuel cans are heavy. The new style are incredibly awkward. I'm getting old.

I need an easy way to transfer fuel from can to the tractor's tank. What I think I need is a small, inexpensive 12V pump that can deliver 1-2 gpm 3' vertical ... or a big dumb guy who works cheap and on short notice.

Even a siphon would be OK, if it can do the 1-2 gpm, 3' vertical.

However, I'm open to advice.

Take about 2.5 minutes for 5 gal

I feel your pain (literally). Climbing up on the tractor to fill through the hood with a 5 gal can gets old in a hurry.

This pump from Harbor Freight does a great job. Hook it to a battery and it pumps like a buck in rut. 10 gpm and has decent reviews unlike the Amazon one.

I got mine with coupon for $70. You can also use the ever-present 20% off coupon. Neighbor has one too and loves it.

It will also pump hydraulic fluid. I hate to fill the hydraulics on the L48 and BX2200. Haven't done it yet but will use it next time.

I put a piece of tubing over the nozzle of the fuel can, put the fuel can in the loader, raise the loader higher than the tractors fuel tank. Stick the other end of the tubing into the fuel tank, then tip the fuel can on its side so the tubing covered nozzle is facing down and let gravity fill the tank with fuel.
It's not fancy, but it works without spilling or having to hold the fuel can.

I love it! It's worth a trip to the hardware store and couple bucks for the tubing. Even if it doesn't work, the photograph would be priceless.

Now the downside.

1) The only fuel cans you can buy nowadays have that !@#$%^ spout that you have to hold in position the whole time you're emptying the can. Oh well, at least you don't have to shake the spout when you're finished )

2) It seems more likely that you'd dump water and crud from the bottom of the can into the fuel tank.

Where can I get one of those coupons?

Where can I get one of those coupons?

There is usually an advertisement in the Sunday paper - either in one of the "all-ads" inserts or separately.

In the meantime, here is the most recent coupon.
