I have now had my JM284LE for almost 9 months, worked like a charm through winter. At the same time I purchased an ATV 250cc ST. It came without a gas line filter and in fact the gasline was missing, but for the price that was OK, I purchaseed the stuff and installed and worked fine! HOWEVER now I have a problem. It appears to be running only on one cylinder. When I put my hands on the dual exhaust, one of the exhaust is cold. Has anyone any experience with this. Can anyone help?

You might have some luck on this forum http://forums.atvconnection.com/categories.cfm/catid/10.cfm There are some very knowledgleable people there just like the guys on the china part of this forum. But, I would first check out a few things. Does that cylinder have spark, is the spark plug good. It would seem that it might well be electrical based. How has the quad been for you before this. I have a Kawa bayou which is what the quad was modeled after (but not the engine). I have been researching some of these quads myself, and finding good reliable sources of info are hard to come by.
Good Luck, Dave

Thanks for the link, yes, it ran very well before. It may be just the humidity in the barn after a long winter. I have been able to get some help from their tech support in China so I think I am OK. Runs like a charm again.

Do you know if it is a 2 or 4 stroke engine? If it is a 2 stroke, then maybe it has a broken reed that is allowing the cylinder to not build pressure and operate correctly (reeds work like valves on an engine by opening and closing at certain times during the engine stroke cycle).

If it is a 4 stroke, then make sure the nonworking cylinder is recieving spark, could be as simple as the plug wire being loose. Also pull the sparkplugs to see if they look the same or different from one another.

This should get you started in finding the problem /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
