Kubota L3400DT
So I purchased the log splitter on monday. Will be in this coming monday. Got a steal of a deal for only $367. Question for anyone who has this log splitter on a kubota la 463FEL or comparable. What type of quick coupler is on the control valve, pioneer or jic? Thanks for the help. Will try to post pics when it comes in.

Will be interested in how it works for you.
Might just pick up the right male connectors for your kub to instal on the hoses so you are ready to go when it comes.

That sounds like a good price even for HF. Was it a special ?
Hope you give us a full report on it when it comes.

HF must have sold out their stock of these splitters because they come up no longer available when you try to search for them by item number. If you get one delivered, yours may be one of the last ones available for awhile.

The splitter comes without hoses or quick connects. The fittings on the control valve are for 1/2" NPT hydraulic hose and I would suggest using 1/2" because you want all the flow you can get from your remotes. Get the correct adapters from your Kubota dealer to go from the remotes to 1/2" hose. I bought my hoses at TSC, but any good 1/2" hose will do. You could get them made up at NAPA auto parts or order them online from someone like Surplus Center. Just make sure you measure and get them long enough.

I added a photo of my splitter installed on my tractor.

Interesting pic Jim, I've been thinking about picking up a splitter before the autumn, and have had a hard time deciding between the vertical and horizontal ones - over in the UK there's little difference in price between the two, assuming a similar power, and every one I speaks to seems to espouse one or the other way of doing it!

Any ideas on the advantages or disadvantages of the two arrangements? Hwo're you getting on with yours?

as far as 3ph splitters go, i prefer horizontal. i raise mine as far as it will go so i am doing most of the work while standing upright - you only have to bend over to pick it out of the pile to put on the machine. if i have a really large piece of wood, just lower the 3ph to the ground and roll the few really heavy ones on. with a vertical you are doing all your work bent over. you bend over to pick up the wood and to get it after it is split. many people like to add a table to the horizontal splitters so that the wood doesn't fall to the ground after splitting too.

I am ordering a 16 ton unit from ramsplitter today. The vertical/horizontal, shipped, with hoses is running me $675. I will report back in a couple weeks when I start splitting.

There are many threads containing the pros and cons of 3 pt splitters...

Thanks, I'll have a search around and see what conclusions people have come to!

Yes it was on special just like jinman said. They were a 150 cheaper online than the store and the store matched it. The one online dissappeared two days after i ordered mine, so i got lucky. Still have not had time to drive the two hours and go get it. Will post when i get it set up.

So been a while and I forgot to post. Used the splitter twice and works great! Does not like to split wet cottonwood that has been cut for two years. Got hoses and couplers for about $65. It is a little slow but not enought that it holds me up. I run the tractor at about 1500 rpm. Have not had the issues of shearing any bolts, so far so good. My wife is putting up peaches and pears and apples, so I had better go try some since she is going to force me:licking::laughing:
