After mostly lurking on this site and studying the capabilities of the Century vs others (JD, MF, NH, Kubota and others) I finally made my decision and purchased a NEW Century 3045 with a 50HL FEL. I got it for $17,900.00 out the door (Ag tires). I feel good about the deal and delivery is scheduled for today. Thanks to all who posted their candid opinions. I will post any future experiences with this tracor as well.

Micro, Ray and Loges - Do you find any negative about the live PTO vs independent? Is the clutch a two-stage? Thanks.

congratulations!

I've got a Century 3647 with the new Cummins, and it's a tank.
Very heavy, VERY strong.

Good luck, Anthony

Yes, the clutch is a two stage. I've used machines with idependent PTO's before, and the only negative on the Century/Branson Live PTO is having to disengage the drivetrain to switch it off. OTH having one pedal to stomp to the floor to stop all motion in a scary situation is good, versus having to clutch and find the PTO switch at the same time.

I'll second MicroPilots thoughts. Growing up all the tractors I operated had independant PTOs(all large JD ag tractors). I just had to get used to a two stage. For what I do it's really no better, no worse, just different.

Congrats Ray,

You are really going to love that 50hl loader. That thing has some serious power. Put a toothbar on it and you have a respectable digging machine with all that weight and power behind that bucket.

I'll second the idea of liking the 2-stage clutch in an emergency situation, just stomp the clutch and everything shuts down. (Like after finding an old foundation while brush hogging in tall grass. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif Different story though.)

Congrats,

I have 10 hours on my C42..I love it!. My first machine so ignorance is bliss, but it seems well constructed.

This is a good forum for Century/Zetor, stick around. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
