OK, I am not crazy or color-blind, but the yanmar I picked up has purple antifreeze. Test way down on the freeze scale. Is this stuff any good or should I go ahead and change it. Going to change all other oils and filters.

You could have proprietary antifreeze. This is one of the latest scams sweeping the auto industry. Some are starting to have "their own" antifreeze, so they can try to make you pay twice as much, to but it from them.

If this is the case, and your out of warranty, I would get one of the many "new" 100k mile formulas at the auto parts store.

The FleetCharge I use in my diesel pickup is purple. I buy it at TSC.

I admit I did not go check, but I think the anti-cavitation additive I use in my Powerstroke is purple, thereby changing my antifreeze to purple.

if it test low, and you live in an area where it freezes why not change it? it's cheap and you can flush your radiator at the same time.

If you're testing with an ethylene glycol tester and the anti-freeze is propylene glycol based, it will test inaccurately. Most propylene glycol I've seen is purple.
