I kept thinking to myself, "Better get that bro-tek armor so I don't have a stray stick shear off the fan blades". Well, I was bush hogging today, taking my time real slow and careful backing into the brush. Took a break and was admiring my handiwork. Then something caught my eye, a white bit of something. At first I thought it was part of an animal skull, then I picked it up. I knew immediately what it was. Crawled under the tractor and looked. Yep, all the blades but one were missing.:mur::mur:

Guess I will be making a stop at the dealer to have them tow it to their shop! I was wondering if I could fix it myself, but then I remember some folks stating you almost have to take the engine out to fix it.

Add my name to the long list of others who did not heed the warning soon enough :)

When you said fan blades, I assumed radiator fan. But then you said you "crawled under" and looked. What are these fan blades? :confused3:

HST Fan, I have since learned is the proper term.

Did you by chance buy the Kubota (KTAC) insurance? If so, all you will have to pay is the $250.00 deductable.

Yes, I did (although that was 13 months back). I remember the dealer made us buy it, as part of the zero percent financing. I hope it is still valid, but I think it was for the life of the loan (still paying on it, ha!).

I knew better than to keep risking it. Hard headed and thought I could get by one more time.

When our BX25 was delivered, the dealer never heard of the fan ever breaking...

It is really a pity the way they designed it, and then did not protect it. I love my little BX25, but that is a severe issue. Once I do the Bro-Tek, I should be good to go.

I was hesitant to do it, since it adds more weight and I wanted other implements. But of course in hind-sight, it was silly not to go ahead and get it.

The Kubota Insurance is simply a tremendous blessing at a time like this. If you paid the 5 year premium, in advance, at the time of purchase, you are going to rejoice over having it for this mishap. I'm sorry this happened to you.

The BX isn't alone. Other scuts also make use of the HST cooling fan and yes, they are all vulnerable to greater or lesser degrees.

Agree that it is time for a re-design. One shouldn't have to retro-fit a tractor to use it in such mundane ways.

I've been looking for something like this pro tek stuff. Do they make it for M Series Kubota's, I checked out their website and sadly could only find bx stuff?
Any advice on M Series under protection would be sweet, I've busted a few radiators with debris, not to mention a lot of other stuff.

I remember I found the same fan on my bx1800 was missing all the blades. It was a tricky job, but after about an hour had the whole thing changed over without "too" much trouble. Certainly nothing as serious as removing the engine

It was a while ago so I don't quite remember the procedure, but maybe it's not as difficult as it seems?
