Put the rest of my garden out today

Most things aren't planted here until after May 10th. Even if the weather is warm enough, the ground is still too cold -- the plants just sort of sit there and never develop roots and finally give up in a couple of weeks. So now just focusing on lawns and general clean-up of winter debris [lot of limbs for firewood].

Up here they say "if you want peas for July 4 you need to get them into the ground by Mother's Day." I planted garlic last week-it's better to get it in the ground in October- and put some lettuce seed in the ground. I also dug last year's parsnip that I wintered over; it was nice to have something which didn't come out of the freezer.

Here we can plant green peas and green onions by Feb. 15, and radishes and lettuce my mid March. We are already harvesting green onions and radishes, and I'm loving it!
