I came in the farm shop for a few minutes to warm up and sharpen the chainsaw a bit. Pap (a reference to a father in Ky) was putting some handles in some axes and hammers he had bought at a auction. Once he cleaned them up with a wire wheel the number 7 1/2 was stamped in two of the double bited heads. It didn't weigh 7 1/2 lbs and no were I measured come out to 7 1/2 inches. So whats the # mean? One of the double bited heads he called a "limbing axe". It was much thinner around the eye and the blades but not from being worn, just lighter made.
