After removing my lawnmower deck on my john deere X744, i decided to see if i could find an easier way to clean it after mowing...
i talked to a john deere dealer in muscatine and was telling me about fastening a hose on to a piece of PVC, with holes drilled in it and running it under the mower...WITH THE BLADES RUNNING..!!!
can anyone tell me if this is feasible?? he says it does one **** of a job!!
don't want to wreck the mower... some help????

I have a neighbor who has been doing this for several years with no ill effects (to my knowledge).

I see many decks now that have a hose fitting right on top of the deck for that purpose. My father installed on of them on his 7 iron deck and he swears by it.

I have a hard time thinking it would be good for the deck, but he has been doing it for a few years with no issues.

That method is probably about as good as you can do without removing the deck.

I've seen this but I don't see how it can be good for the bearings and just general corrosion..

Jamming water in there so often.

I use my auto ramps that I built out of 2x12 and just drive my 445 up and so I can reach under and clean the deck from time to time. I would pull the deck more often as it really only take 5 minutes but setting it level is a pain in the butt (aside from pulling it in the winter for a full cleaning

 I just watched a youtube video of a kid taking his cutter down to the pond and running it partially submerged in the water to clean it.

Personally I would not put anything under the mower while the blades are running (except grass).

My father-in-law bought a new riding mower from Sears a few months ago. I noticed the hose connection on top of the mower deck, but I didn't know what it was until I asked him. He says it works great.

I now see them on a lot of new mowers.

I can't imagine it hurts anything. I'm sure it isn't as bad as caked on grass.

I drop my flail mower into the edge of the river, and holy cow does it come out clean underneath!!
