Maka (and any other dealer for that matter), I was wondering if you had a rough idea on how much internet research the people whom you sell to actually do. Clearly there is a group of people who do research on the net, but how many of the people you sell to actually checked the internet out for information.

Hi Carl. An exact % I can't give but I can tell you that a significant % come in and have already done their internet homework. in quit a few cases they have specs in hand printed out, know the model they are initially interested in and I can say that many of my customers have done research and yes, reference our great site right here on TBN.

The % is significant enough that every manufacturer should see it as an important part of their business.

Thanks,
Maka

Thanks for the reply. I only ask because I am internet savvy, and so are the rest on this group. But in my area only Valley View and TYTAN use the internet to any extent, the other dealers rely on the company websites they represent and are not even listed as dealers even though they are huge...

Maybe it is the product they sell that does not allow individual websites...

I'd have to agree Woodland. The big three dealers all seem to rest on their laurels when it comes to the internet. Steve at Valley View Tractor & Equipment,Inc. has always been good about keeping his website up to date and his customer service is excellent too. It's too bad he's so far away from us though. The cost of gas makes trips down there something to plan for.

I've probably called Tytan 5 times in the last few years and they have never returned a phone call to me. They are too far away from me to drop by so their lack of customer service is their loss.

I noticed that the New Holland dealer in Clackamas is now pushing all their used stuff on Craigslist. Tractor Ernie is a big presence on Craigslist and so is the local Montana Dealer.

I was running ads on Craigs list and within a week of my first ad I had people trying to scam me. Almost two out of every 3 emails were scams. It was disappointing so we had to stop using Craigs list.
