As documented in earlier threads, I have converted my original LA463 loader to the Kubota QA adapter. I positioned the QA plate on my bucket based on some pics provided by tbn'r "wushaw" who had the QA adapter and plate installed by his dealer. Now when the bucket is tilted all the way up, and lowered to the ground, the loader QA adapter arms make contact with the ground before the bucket (by about 4"!!). When the bucket is place in a level position, it rests on the ground below the loader arms, but only by about an inch. Does this sound right? It appears I am more liable to damage the loader arms this way. Does anyone have a pic of the factory installed LA463 QA on the bucket? I have attached some pics below. The first one is of wushaw's dealer installed plate, the second one shows my installation with the bucket level on the ground, and the third shows my installation with the bucket tipped up and the loader arms on the ground. I dread the thought of having to take the QA plate off the bucket (too many welds!). Any thoughts??

The loader arms on my LA724 with factory QA have two rather thick tabs to limit the range of the QA plate rotation. The lower one hits the ground well before the bucket does if the bucket is curled all the way. I'll try to take pictures when it is light tomorrow.

I will have to look at mine and take some pictures but I thing my loader arms hit like what you have pictured.
I know the curl actuator pulls in that far.

TalonDancer and wushaw -

Thanks for the replies... I will be anxious to see the pics of the LA724. Wushaw - I have to believe your setup would be about the same as mine... have you had any problems with it? Im further searching I found the pic below where tbn'r "oldgoat" had converted his LA463, and as you can see, the plate is mounted much higher on the bucket...

Yes his plate is.

I never even noticed it till you brought it up. I can back drag without any problems.

I do get dirt build up in the lower zerk fitting areas where I have to take a screwdriver to clean the dirt out to grease the fitting.

Here is the picts, it was dark but you can still see it is just like yours. I have 237 hrs with no problems like this.

I did notice my loader not perfectly level, it's off @ 1"...shucks my dirt is gonna be upset it is being worked with an unlevel loader bucket:)

Westbrooklawn you have 2 choices.

1. Try it and see how it works.
2. Cut it off and do it over before working with it.

I would try it first.

You have been a tremendous help... if you have 237 hours on yours with no problems, then it gives me some peace of mind that it is probably o.k.

I will definitely try it like it is, and if I do have a problem I can always cut it off and start over again later. Thanks again for all the time you took to get me pics, etc.

westbooklawn:

If you were to do it over, would you put the plate up higher?

I'm guessing unelss you bucket is curled up, your loader arms aren't going to be touching the ground when you park the tractor right?

Westbrooklawn; No problem:)

Canoetrpr; The loader arms will be on the ground with the bucket slightly curled up with all hydraulic pressure bled off and yes the bucket will become a birdbath.

You are correct, if the bucket isn't tipped all the way up, the loader arms won't touch the ground. If I was to do it again, I would try to get a look at an LA463 from the factory with the QA option, and position the plate at the same height. If I couldn't find one to look at, I would probably call Kubota tech help and see if they could give me the correct mounting position. If I couldn't get the info from either of those sources, I would try to reconstruct the pin positions from the original bucket brackets, and try to duplicate that. At any rate, I do think the plate should be somewhat higher than where I mounted it, although I used it for about 3 hours this morning and it seemed to work fine.
