I posted previously my change over on my Mahindra 6000 to a QA. I have now used it with about all my QA equipment and have a problem. The pins do not engage the bottom of the plate on the implement enough to keep it on when putting back force on the implement. The biggest problem is with the bucket. I have a New Holland and put my implements on it and they engage about a 1/2 inch beyond the taper at the bottom of the pin. On the Mahindra, it is only engaged about 1/2 from the bottom. In fact the tapered portion of the pin is what is trying to hold the bucket on. When I dump the bucket and shake it such as having something stuck inside it, the bucket flops back and forth due to the gap caused by the taper. Here is a picture that should help explain.

Is this a manufacturing defect? Do they make longer pins? How can I fix this?

Of course I have called the dealer I got it from and will contact Great Bend directly.
Thanks

Slippy if I remember right that is NOT a Mahindra quick attach correct? I am sure you did the obvious checking for dirt or other obstructions. I'd see if the manufacturer of the QA has any pointers.

Tim, well yes and no. My loader was made by Great Bend for Mahindra. I called Mahindra and they told me to contact Great Bend. I did that and they told me to contact a local dealer. Great Bend was bought by Bush Hog. If you go to Bush Hogs web site there is a link to their Great Bend division. So, the dealer got the QA from Bush Hog who bought Great Bend, who used to make the loader for Mahindra.

Yea everything is clean. In fact it has done this since it was on new. I just really had not used the loader for any dirt type work until recently. My son was working on a dirt track he was building and the bucket actually came off.

The plate is not made by either or any of them. I got the plate from the same place as I got my bale spear, forks and grapple bucket.

I may have a happy ending to this. I have sent PM to another poster here becasue I recalled back in one of my previous posts that he had a similar problem. Looking forward to his further instructions on how he fixed his.

However, here is the good news. Right after making the post, I called the dealer and gave him the information. I had told him about it a few weeks ago and he wanted to know if the bucket and other attachments have the same problem on my New Holland. Checked, and answer is no.

I then called Bush Hog/ Great Bend. Tech was out to lunch. Within 30min or so he called, I explained, he said I will call you back. He called back within 30 min, told me to call my dealer, have him call the Tenn. plant and ask for a specific person, that they have longer pins, and he will ship them to the dealer. So, we will see how quickly now the dealer gets things done and whether they will fit and fix the problem.

GREAT JOB BY BUSH HOG/ GREAT BEND! Very impressed with how quickly they called back and got the answer for me.

So, for those of you that have done the conversion or thinking about it, I would ask for both sets of pins. Apparently, GB changed the design of the QA. It used to have longer pins. With the new design, they put in shorter pins. This gets back to this whole standardization of QA. It obviously is not standard. So you just have to check everything before you buy, which is difficult, but if not, be prepared to work out the problems.

Here's pics of my QA I bought 2 years ago from a Mahindra dealer. It supposedly came straight to the dealer from KMW. It is Univ. skid steer configuration. I also have my old bucket that I purchased an aftermarket weld-on QA plate - it fits the same way so I assume it's the adapter that is out of whack. On the right side, which is the "bad" side, the pin just barely grabs the slot and it is on the tapered side of the pin. It only takes about 1/8" of movement and the slot is on the taper of the pin and it just comes right off with a little more pressure. Even on the left side where the fit is good, the pin only engages the slot a little better. I don't think the geometry of the handles/levers would allow for a much longer pin in mine, not enough travel. I tried reversing the pins with the taper the opposite side but it wouldn't work. My simple fix was drilling the holes and using those bolts just to keep the buckets from coming off. Takes some convenience out of it but only takes an extra minute.

Thanks Skipmarcy. Your set up is different than mine and there is nothing to bolt to on my set up. I thought you put a hole in the bottom of the pin itself and then put a bolt through it.
I will see what comes in and if it works.

Yup mine on the 6500 looks more like what skip has. I have never had to put a bolt in though. Would kinda defeat the purpose. I am using a few different attachments now, spear, forks, bucket, and they all engage snug. The mahindra bucket is the tightest and toughest to get on, but when it is on it is on. Slippy glad to hear it might just be a pin changeout. That doesn't sound too bad.
