Are there any brands of impleiments which quality is better than another, like Land Pride vs Rhino etc. I need a box blade, bush hog, disc for 35-40 hp tractor

thanks

I have been doing a little research on box blades since I am getting ready to purchase one myself. I have found that First Choice and Midwest both make a HD model that has 1/2 thick end plates and has gussets for added strength. The way they attach to the lower arms is also a stronger connection point and the rippers are adjusted easily without the use of tools.

I think a box blade would have a lot of extra stress on it and since I will be using mine quite a bit I'm going to go with one or another.

I have borrowed a KingKutter in the past but looking at the way it is made and the fact that the end plates are lighter gage steel and now bent and deformed as a result are a turn off to me. Maybe If I didn't have 40 HP it wouldn't be that big of a deal but I want the one that I purchase to last for a few years.

First Choice has not had anyone production on dirt working or landscaping implements for them in over 2 years. It is unlikely First Choice will produce and or outsource any dirt working items due to increased steel prices. Midwest has since improved their designs over the designs they sold to First Choice over 2 years ago.

Hugh,

I have a 72" Bush-Hog brand box blade that has handled all I could throw at it. I think it weighs about 500 lbs. The Rhino looks like a good one too but I don't have any experience with it. Any good HD unit will cost more but will be more difficult to tear up! I also have a Bush-Hog brand cutter, 286 model I think, with chains. It's a good medium duty cutter, as is Rhino. I would stay away from the B/H "Squealer" line or other light duty cutters if there is any tough cutting in your future. You generally get about what you pay for. Good luck.

PS: If you haven't bought a tractor yet consider top & tilt. If that's too expensive right now, at least be sure to get dual rear remotes as it will cost less now than to add later.
