Are they comparable to Kubota or Deere? I don't think the quality control level at the factory is on the lines with these manufacturers. I've got to be honest. They are ugly ducklings with weld splatter, a rough paint job and few amenities. We've heard stories of things being leaky or loose from the factory. However, we have also heard these same stories from owners of just about all the other brands of tractors, too. After all, TBN is a place where people come together for solutions to tractor problems. So it is not surprising that we hear of troubles with all brands.
When I was tractor shopping, I took serious looks at JD, Kubota and NH. They were all great machines with great reputations. If you bought one of those machines, you couldn't go wrong... IF you had a good dealer. That is the key with those brands. Bad dealer= bad experience. Good dealer= lifetime of happy tractoring. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
The Power Trac is a different animal than a CUT. While they can do similar jobs they do them differently. From my own personal experience, in daily chores around my home, property, little league, church and school, a Power Trac will outperform a CUT in productivity. Period. Mowing, brush hogging, moving mass amounts of material around, snow plowing are all done faster on a PT than on a CUT. Period. Here's what sealed the deal for me, though. The quick attach feature. Changing un-powered attachments in 15 seconds without getting off the tractor is not possible on a CUT. Changing powered attachments in less than a minute is outrageous. The speed at which you can go from attachment to attachment on a Power Trac is unmatched by a CUT. Period. I'd like to get the post hole digger and trencher next. Just from comments made here on TBN by people that have used them on a Power Trac and on a CUT, who say they work better on a Power Trac than a CUT, I know I want them.
Quality can be many things. Among them are...
Quality in the manufacturing process.
Quality in the parts used.
Quality in service after the sale.
Quality of the job performed by the tractor.
I think Power Trac could do a better job in quality in the manufacturing process. I think the quality of the parts used is excellent. Quality after the purchase is kind of up to you. I knew before purchase that if something went wrong under warranty I could ship the part back to Power Trac for repair or repair it my self locally. That was known up front, so I'd have to give that an A. Also, they are outstanding on phone support, another A. But their documentation in the printed materials supplied to the owner is lacking. Definitely a C-. Except I've found that I don't need it, as I'm of average intelligence and can pretty much figure it out on my own. The design of the machine is very simple, which makes it easier for the homeowner to repair. I give the design an A++.
But what really sets it apart from anything else is the quality of the jobs it does for me. I have never been disappointed with it. It has performed as advertised each and every time I use it. And that is a pretty good recommendation.
Having owned it for three years, I would definitely purchase one again. That's a quality recommendation. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
