Queen\'s Birthday Long Weekend

Howdy Y'all (Said with the best American accent I can muster)

This weekend is a long weekend for us. Being in the Commonwealth we celebrate the Queen's Birthday with a long weekend.

No it's not actually the Queen's birthday. (Go figure) When that is I have no idea.

Scary hey !!!

Just thought I'd keep you posted on our traditions over here. Have learned so many of yours.

Supposed to be going to the "Old Station" Fly-In and Airshow but it has been cancelled due to rain (Yes we finally got some). A great weekend normally but no fun in the rain.

(2 years ago a Saratoga overshot and ended up in the creek due to the wet grass and brain fade)

So it's more work in here but will be getting some seat time (if ground not too boggy) to use my pipe layer for some pipes and consuits while the grouns is soft.

Before the rain my ripper wouldn't look at our soil. It sets like concrete.

It looked like quite the "do" for the queen's 50th year on the throne - at least from the clips from London.

Um - what kind of aircraft was a Saratoga? Any pictures?

Hi Neil,

Over here at the other end of the Commonwealth /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif, there are some ceremonies this weekend to honor the Queen's Golden Jubilee (50 years as queen). However, the bulk of our celebrations will wait until July 1 which is of course "Canada Day".

I've seen a few of the clips of the goings on over in G.B., but haven't seen any from Down Under. You need to get your media folks back on track!/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif They did a GREAT job before and during the Olympics. I /w3tcompact/icons/love.gif seeing all the interesting stories about your beautiful country. A good friend mine and his wife visited you guys there last year, and they just loved it!

Yes we are getting away from Queen a bit but she is stil lon all our money.

Too wet for tractor I think. Still raining which is great !!!

Saratoga is a Piper made plane.

So have a pic in fact. I hear the plane was repaired but the pilot was in another crash later (different plane) and someone wa killed.

He had his family with his when this happened. Dunno if they'd fly with him now??
