Had the darndest thing happen when I woke up an hour ago: When I walked into the combo bath/laundry room the control panels of both my washer and dryer (Maytag Neptune appliances with electronic touch controls) were lit up, and I know for a fact they were off when I went to bed last night. My first thought was the power had gone out for a while, but none of the other digital readouts on anything were affected. Both appliances are plugged into an APC branded surge protector that is plugged into the dedicated 20 amp outlet that serves the appliances and nothing else is on the circuit. Indicator lights on the surge protector read normal. Anybody got a clue? If it means anything, this one outlet is the closest one to the main panel which is directly underneath the appliances downstairs.

Could have still just have been a blip on the power line. Could be anything from a branch hitting the power line to a real fast feed switch by an alert crew doing maint..... Different appliances react to power blips in their own manner.... Unless you were sleep walking.. Or maybe it was a brain cloud...

I've got an older set of Neptune's. They haven't been the most reliable things. There are multiple websites up for diy repairs and parts. Hopefully it was just a brown out.

Mine are 11 years old, never had any issues except one warranty fix nine years ago. I do know several people who have had severe problems with Whirlpool front loading washers, apparently the chemicals in the detergent they use eats away at the tub bearings.
