We have used well water for 30 years for everything. Well is 420 feet deep. They hit water at 150' with about 7 gpm, but I wanted more so they went deeper. We now have over 21 gpm. We have one of those small cartridge water filters for the water that enters the house but that is mostly to catch fine particles.
We live in the foothills at 2400' and so get our water "first" - from the mountain snow melt above us.
We have had our water tested 3 times and it was always fine.
BTW I have read that well water is very healthy as it contains multiple trace minerals.
