will the other attachments for the 1430 fit the 1445 pt unit?
I did not see a brush cutter for the 1445 but only a finish mower. I also want a mini hoe. I did not see one on the 1445 price sheet but did see one in the attachments photo's. I am leaning towards the 1445 because of the braking system. I have a property with many hills and slopes. thanks.. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

These two models use a different size Quick Attach plate and the hydraulic PTO on 1445 has a higher flow rating.

That said, speak with Scott at PT and tell him exactly what you need. Most likely they can accomodate you.

Certain items can be adapted after the fact and others such as the mini hoe can be bought elsewhere. For example, a better and stronger (in my opinion) mini hoe can be bought from www.lackender-fab.com and if you send them the PT QA plate, they will weld it on and paint it before shipping to you.

I think you will be pleased with the 1445 in many respects.... with that smooth 45 hp diesel it is a real work horse with about 50% more lift capacity and still just as manueverable as the 1430.

Good Luck

If you go to the PT website and click on NEW you will see that they are now listing a minihoe for the 1445.

Eagle,

I spoke with Scott about a month ago. He said they are developing a 72" brush cutter for the 1445 and it should be available August/September. Price he quoted to me was $1900. much better than the finish mower price

Do you think that my PT180 could handle that lackender baby boomer?

For a 180 size machine I would stay with the PT mini hoe, as the Lackender is heavier built in my opinion than needed (or would be good) for this size machine.

This attachment puts quite a bit of strain as it is on the "curl" pivot pin, and too heavy a mini hoe might just be inviting trouble.

The reason that I asked was because I was under the impression that the mini hoe from PT is not available for the 180. I don't think that the 180 has the accessory hydraulics available to run the mini hoe. I hope I am wrong! I sure could use the mini hoe!

The Lackender hoe requires the same hydraulic supply as the PT mini hoe in order to have a bucket curl capability. As you correctly noted the mini hoebucket curl is powered from the quick attach circuit. Because the 180 does not have quick attach hydraulic modifications would be necessary to use either hoe with bucket curl.

Lackender does sell a hoe without bucket curl. However, in my experience using a PT 1845, the bucket curl is necessary to dig in hard soil.

DML,

You are correct, the 180 does not have the auxilliary hyd circuit required for the "curl" function.... I was basing my comments mostly on the size of the machine. Bob is also correct that for the hoe to be truely useful, it should have the hyd bucket curl function.

Having the Lackender Baby Boomer with the optional hydraulic curl for my 1845 (the BB 2000 which includes the hyd cyl is slightly larger yet), I can tell you it would be too much for a 180 (and probably 422 and 425 as well) with or without the hydraulic curl function.

I think the smallest PT mini-hoe version is lighter than the Lackender models and may be possible to use with a 180 in "gentle dirt/sand" with the addition of an auxilliary hyd circuit which should be easy for a hydraulic shop to do. May not be that hard for you to do if you can buy a "kit" from PT to do the upgrade.

Once again, be aware that the main pivot pin welded between the lift arms can be overstressed and replacement involves cutting out and rewelding a new pin.... something you will want to avoid having to do. Using a mini-hoe can put a lot of stress on this pivot pin.

By the way, I am not calling this pin a "weak point", but rather it may not be as "over-built" as most of the rest of the PT structure is. (Lube this part often !!)

Good Luck
