3-Point Hitch Question about 3-point hitch

Hi all, this is my first post. I've been lurking for a while and just bought a Yanmar YM1300 and have an Owners Manual on the way.

The first thing I want is a box scraper, so I need to get a 3-point kit, which I found at Hoye. They also recommend a few other brackets; Lower link assembly, hinge plates & top link bracket.

Well, looking at the tractor, it looks like it might already have the lower link asssby. I was hoping for an experienced opinion and any recomendations of what I'll need to run a box scraper.

I realize I'm new and am possibly asking an obvious question, in which case, I appologize and please point me to the proper thread or FAQ.

I did research prior to asking the question and also looked through the photo gallery in hopes of finding an answer.

Or, if nobody knows and I'm asking a question that just can't be answered, please say so, so I can continue my researches elsewhere.

it looks to me like you have the crosspiece that the 2 lower links attatch to, i can't tell for sure in the pic. I think you need the lower arms and the rods that go between them and the lift arms.

hello diirk, welcome to tbn!

The pic is a bit difficult to see, but here's what i'm thinking (keep in mind I've never seen a 1300 in real life):
You'll need a top link bracket; an adjustable top link; lower 3-pt hitch arms (looks like you have the mounting points already there, towards inside of each side transmission housing); connecting arms from lower to upper arms; and 3-pt hitch sway chains. I don't see a way to connect these chains from your picture, but it can be done other ways. There's a fellow here, Jagmandave, that owns a 1602 and has cross connected the sway chains to one another, this should work well (Jagman, did I get that right?).

That's what I think you'll need from looking at your pic. Also, call Hoye, they are very helpful in getting you the right parts for your tractor. And, if in the event something isn't right, doesn't fit, etc., they are very gracious in taking items back. Good service all around. Good luck, -art

Sounds like what you need has already been covered, you can go with support arms instead of chains if your lower mount can take it. Hoye would know. The problem that I have found on using them is sometimes you have to pull off the lower arm to attach a wide implement. They seem to do a pretty good job on keeping my bushhog from swinging back and forth though. On using the box scraper, the length of the top link is what controls the attack angle of the blade, the longer the more aggressive bite the scraper has. Make sure one of you connector links is adjustable, this will allow you to tilt the blade a couple of inches to make a small grade on a road or ditch.

I really appreciate the info. I've been looking at the Hoye catalog, and here's my shopping list:

Top link
Top Link Bracket
2 adjustable sway chains
Adjustable side link
Non adjustable side link
2 lower lift arms
1 top link pin
3 lynch pins

You'll need pins to connect the sway chains to the arms. I don't know if those pins come with the sway chains or not .

On my 1602D, there are no brackets out near the wheel (or any place to attach some even if I made them) to attach the sway chains, so I made some loops that would allow me to hook one end on the lower link pins, then I crossed them and attached to the lower link about 1/2 way down the arm. This way, the box blade (or whaever is attached) can't swing the lower arms into the rear tires. You need to keep the sway chains in the same plane of motion as the lower arms so the chains don't tighten up or loosen as the implement is raised/lowered. I'd offer to post a pic but I'm about 1,000 miles from my home computer right now. If you still need one by the time I get home Thursday, I'll be glad to post one up. I bought my sway chains at Hoye, and they came with the attaching hardware on both ends, so you should hav what you need..............

When you get a chance, I'd love to see a picture. Any info is good info when you're just starting to learn about something.

I'd like to appologize if I came across as impatient. I'm on a number of boards and some won't even acknowledge a newbie whereas others do right away and it's especially tough when your first post is a question. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I'm going to wait until I get the manual I ordered from Hoye before I order anything else. I want to fully understand all the controls and capabilities prior to adding attachments.

Thanks arthr31, that's the pic. I just got home today and was going to post it, saved me the trouble!
In the pic you can just see the loops I made on the pins at the tractor end of the lower arms, they were just made from some flat 3/8" plate with the approriate holes in them.....works like a champ tho!

BTW, I've since rebuilt where those lower arm pins attach to that bracket. It was a "rigged" mess when I got it, those ears the pins are bolted to would bend fairly easily, so I welded a tube between them, threaded to the size of the threads on the pins.....much stronger now and I shouldn't bend it again now unless I do something wrong/stupid............
It's probably going to rain here all weekend, but if I get out to where the tractor is I'll post up a pic........

Noticed your tractor has a ROPS, not the customary black color, did it come with your tractor which by the way looks great. I have a 1300 as well. Currently converting it over to three point, have everything but the three point upper bracket, did you mount yours? Did Hoye provide directions for your tractor mount? Send pictures if you can
