I sharpened the blades on the mower today. They were in bad shape and I wondered if they could even be sharpened, but I gave it a good try and hope to finish the season with them.
I noticed the outside blades seemed to have taken more abuse than the center blade.
So when I was putting them back on the mower, should I change their positions, or mount them just like they came off.
One side of the mower seems to be the side that catches the concrete walk and the asphalt where the yard meets the road. That blade was in the worst shape. The other side is usually mowing up against fence rows and gets blocks of wood and sticks and whatever else gets thrown up next to the fence in the weeds.
So, rotate the blades to different spindles for more even wear, or does it even matter.
Early 1949 8N, 60" Big Bee Finish Mower, next season I'll get new blades.
