Question about G1800S Deck Wheels

I have a new to me G1800s that had rear deck wheels so worn they ruined the axles. I purchased new axles (parts 080, 090, and 100 in the diagram) as well as new wheel kits (part 130). The new wheels had to be tapped onto the axles where I then filled them with grease through the zerk fittings. The wheels do not move freely......they move, but it takes a bit of effort.....like the tolerances are too tight. Is this normal for new axles and wheels? Should I be concerned or should I just use it until they break in and start freeing up?

I am not familiar with this deck but it doesn't sound right to me!


They should turn freely, but it also sounds like the old wheels may have been little too close to the ground. Shouldn't they be clearly off the ground when the deck is at the mowing height on a level smooth surface? (take a look at the manual for guidelines).

On the G series tractors, the decks ride on the rear wheels while the fronts are just off the ground for anti-scalping. The wheels adjust to vary the cutting height. The rear wheels have grease fittings since they are constantly moving, but the replacements I put on seems to be tighter than I'd expect. The wheel kits part number has changed a few times over the year (multiple Kubotas use the same ones), so maybe the tolerances have changed ever so slightly. The wheels have bushings instead of bearings, so eventually they will loosen I guess.
