i just got some info from MF on the 2300 which looks like a great tractor. the one thing i noticed that has me a bit sceptical is the mid pto rpms of only 2000 where other comparable tractors are 2500. to me that seems like enough of a difference to me wonder away from MF. if the lack in rpms is made up with pulley size on the MMM than i think it would be ok, now, i would mostly be using what ever sub compact i get for mostly FEL loader work, and some good 3pt work such as blading, tilling, ect. i was originally looking at the kubota 1850 and 2350, and when compared side to side, they are very close.

also wondering what the price range is going for on these a 2300 with 54'' mmm and fel. there is not a real close by dealer for me to stop in yet, although i do plan to get in and have a little seat time.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but Massey Ferguson specs. show the GC2300-2310 makes peak horsepower at a lower rpm, then specs for other brands sub compact tractor peak horsepower is at higher rpms. plowking

The rpm for the mid pto is for the mid mount mower or blower,
specifically made for this tractor by Massey Ferguson, therefore the
difference in rpm is not an indication of less power, it is simply because
they chose a lower rpm. Probably because they did not need to go as
high as other mfg's to produce the same power. If the tractor had less
power the way to compensate would be to increase rpm's, a decrease
would result in less power. The 2300's have an engine that does not
turn max rpm's as high as the Kubota but, it produces the same hp and
torque. This results in at the very least, a quieter tractor.

does this limit front implememt selection to just massey units? such as a blower, or a sweeper?

I have a 2310 with the mid mount mulching deck.Florida grass grows fast with summer rains,The 2315 deck has six blades and it cuts beautifully .The tractor is not even one year old and every day I am so happy to have it.Today I sand blasted the underside, primed and painted it,after the paint has a few days to cure I will coat it with a graphite based coating EZ_SLIDE.Hopefully it will stop the grass build up,witch didn't effect performance but started the underside to rust.I would recommend any new mower owner try it.

2000 vs 2500 PTO rpm won't make a difference. 2000 rpm will have more torque. A combination of PTO speed and gearbox reduction determine blade RPM's. If you are concerned about performance, you should look at blade tip speeds, but these can be misleading as well due to varying blade lengths between manufacturers.

There are a lot of GC2300/2310 owners out here. If you read this site
regularly you will see lots of posts about many different things, one
thing you do not see is a complaint about them not having enough
power. These little tractors are both tough and powerful. They are
very capable for a subcompact. Are they perfect? No, but, there are
tractors that are far more expensive that are not perfect either.
