Hope this is the best forum to ask this question.... I guess the subject could apply to tractor sheetmetal too! :) I'm looking to get my truck repainted by a bodyshop. Should I wait till warmer weather to have it done, or is anytime of the year ok? I know most places use paintbooths inside controlled environments, but the paint still has to be affected by the cold weather?? What about after the paintjob, some places bake the paint under heat lamps. I've always thought that the 95deg heat in the summertime was a great way to cure paint? I'm in no hurry to get it done, just willing to wait till summer if that makes any difference?? Opinions?? Thanks!

With today's paint technology as long as the surface is prepared correctly and the products are mixed and applyed correctly and is allowed to dry correctly, I don't think it will matter when it is done.

If the body shop has been at it for awhile they should have a good paint booth that they can let the paint cure in for several hours after it is applied. The vehicle should be warmed up to paint. The body has to be prepped so that you don't get "Orange peel" or paint runs. Heat lamps will help cure the paint also. Just don't let them use large amounts of bondo if you have any large holes to fill.

keep in mind that some paint simply needs a chemical catylist to cure...
