Kioti DK45SE hst cab
i just finally completed the installation of the hydraulic assist cylinder kit on my speeco post hole digger, but now i'm confused.

It has 2 hoses on the cylinder, and i assumed that it hooks into the rear ports like all my other stuff,

Now i come to find out that its a single acting unit and the second hose needs to be plumbed into the port marked "TANK" on my valves????

what the heck does that mean?

I have a Kioti DK45SE unit and im really confused. I looked all over the tractor and i see nothing marked tank.

Any assistance would be appreciated

Tank, usually refers to your hyd fluid reservoir? Ken Sweet

The unused port, A or B port should go to a return or tank line. Some people plug the unused port, and the fluid will go past the relief valve for the amount of time you hold the lever back.

Tank hose is any hose going to tank or reservoir. You can tee into a tank hose. So take the hose from the rod end and connect it to any return/tank hose.

Did you want a single action cyl?

Thanks guys.... i looked but everything is being used.

update: I called my dealer, apparently there's a Kioti retrofit kit that easily installed near the filler port and it has a quick connect for dumping back into the tank. He had one in stock and is mailing it off today.

Thanks again for the input. Ive never played around with single acting units.

So how is that gonna work for down assist on the PHD, don't you need the cylinder to be able to move both ways?
Or when you raise the 3pt, that would close the cylinder?

The cylinder extends exerting pressure down on the boom thus putting pressure down on the auger. As a safety feature so as to prevent any damage to the tractor or the PHD the down pressure kit is a one way hydraulic only and has a bleed off valve allowing hydraulic fluid to bleed off back to the tank any time that the 3pt hitch is raised or that excess fluid is being applied to the cylinder as is the case as you use the down pressure hydraulic while digging. The other thing that this valve allows for is that you can apply constant pressure to the hydraulic while digging giving you a nice steady down pressure. Doing this allows you to not have to be constantly readjusting the hydraulic as the auger goes deeper into the ground. You just pull the control lever that feeds the down pressure hydraulic and all excess fluid bypasses and returns to the tank while all the time exerting a constant down pressure. The way that the linkage is designed, the hydraulic is collapsed as the PHD is raised, the bypass valve is what allows this to happen.

I hope that this is a fair explanation of how a down pressure hydraulic kit works on a PHD. ;)

Can you show a picture of your setup.

No problem, although I should probably should take some new pictures showing just how it works.

Here is a link to Land Pride that shows a good drawing of it

So that pressure relief line has to dump into the sump, can't return thru the remote coupling?

No, because hyd fluid flows both ways depending on the lever position, and you might pressurized the back side of the relief valve. Relief fluid should always go to tank/reservoir with no back pressure.

Since you are using a remote two way spool valve, only one hose from work port A is connected to the cyl. The other outlet on the spool valve is not used. The one hose used for pressure can not be used for relief, and you can not use the other remote port for the relief.
